Joel offers practical and engaging lessons for the guitar - electric or acoustic - or lessons for improvisation on any instrument. He teaches a broad range of contemporary styles including jazz, rock, pop and blues. Joel also tutors maths up to A-Level standard.

Teaching can be done in person or over Zoom. During lockdown, all teaching is on Zoom.

I'm a recent Music & Maths graduate from University Of Birmingham, and have been teaching students as young as six since 2017. I find the guitar to be such a fun way to get people into music - whether learning their favourite songs, or going deep into improvisation. I truly believe anyone can pick up the guitar and learn to be musical! I learn about music through jazz primarily, and apply those foundations wherever I can - hip-hop, soul, alternative music and so on. Alongside teaching, I'm a freelance guitarist working with a variety of acts including hip-hop artist Biig Piig. I also write and produce music, and host local open mic nights and jam sessions.

Rates: 60 min: £30 45 min: £25 30 min: £20 20 min: £15

Cancellation policy: Please notify 48 hours in advance of cancellation, otherwise half of the fee will still be charged.
